The rain is gone!!

The rain finally left. It has rained every day since we got here. We've done alot of neat things that we never would have done if the weather would have been nice. Yesterday we went to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. It is one of the top zoos inthe US, and now we know why! I haven't been to alot of zoos, but it was the coolest one I've ever been to. The habitats were all so natural and there were so many unique animals that we'd never seen before. There was a mama kangaroo with a baby in her pouch. That was by far one of the neatest things I'd ever seen.

Today is gorgeous and we've been beaching it all day! Garrett is napping so I'm catching up on laundry and things while Justin and Courtney are at the beach. It's really cool to sit here on the balcony and watch them. Justin just borrowed a big shovel from Juan the nicest groundskeeper ever. (he brings us a paper every morning and is just super nice) We now have a HUGE castle being built. It won't stand for long though. As fast as Courtney and Justin can build, Garrett destroys.

"See" Turtles

It was a little rainy yesterday so we headed out to the sea turtle rescue center. It was very interesting. I can't believe that we've never been before now. Garrett was confused by "sea" and "see". He kept point to the tank and saying "see turtle, see turtle."

Real Quick...

It's super windy out here on the porch where the connection is, but here's a few pics. I haven't taken many because the weather has been a little rainy so I haven't taken my camera to the beach yet!

A Little 5K Action

Allison and I won a little hardware at the McGregor Founder's Day 5K yesterday morning. Ted also ran an awesome race as well, but the men's races here in the big city are a little more competitive than the women's are. Allison had really great time right around 28 minutes and I came in about 45 or so seconds behind her. We were in different divisions though because I have now hit the big 3-0. So, she came in runner-up in her youthful division, and I won the over-the-hill division. I knew there was some type of benefit to being 31....now I finally figured it out!

What's next for us, you say? I'm thinking London 2012.

We're Here!

....or there....depending on how you look at it. ;)

We got all unpacked and love the condo. It has THE BEST view from our bedroom. It is a corner condo with wrap-around windows in the master bedroom. Courtney loves her room. It has bunk beds and she can sleep safely on the top because there is a good side built up. We haven't made it to the beach yet because it rained this morning, but the clouds are clearing off and it looks like it will be a great day!

A little more now:

It IS a great day! The sun is now shining and it is beautiful. Justin and Courtney are at the beach and I'm sitting here on the patio watching them play. Garrett is napping and then he and I will head out.

I just found out that when I sit on the back porch there is some wireless. I don't plan on being on the computer much, but now when I am it will be "easy peasy" as Courtney would say! (it will also save me some calories now that we don't have to head out to the ice cream shop to get some wireless)

Look at these cute girls!!

The girls are twinkies at school today!

Jill and I got the girls these outfits a while back. It was not a planned thing, we just have the same taste in little girl clothes. :) We both laughed when we realized that we bought the same thing.

I knew that one day we would get together in the morning for our morning ride to school and they would be in their matching outfits....today was the day! Just like the purchase of matching outfits wasn't planned, neither was the matching school day outfits....I think that's the coolest thing about the whole deal.

AND, the whole morning Courtney was begging me to let her take her bear to school and I said no. She must have known that Katy was going to show up to pick her up in her matching outfit with her bear, because who can resist the cuteness of little girls in matching outfits with matching bears?

We've had so much fun raising these two little ladies together. Playdates, fun trips to shows like Barney (to name one of many!), doing pre-school together, countless trips to Baskin Robbins, and soooo many other things have filled our fun days.

Getting Ready!!!!

Well....we are getting ready to head out on our trip. I haven't posted in a while because I just got a new laptop and I'm trying to figure it all out. It's really cool so far. Hopefully I'll get to keep everyone updated on all our fun events while we are on our trip....the only problem is that we will only have dial-up. SO, pictures will only be posted when we are at the ice cream shop that has wi-fi. ;) I'm sure that will be a frequent trip, so no worries there.

I also am getting all the sunny essentials for good beach pics....filters, hoods, etc. Here's a pic (the only one that I have on this computer) of me trying out a filter that Kyle is letting me borrow for the trip. I took it in bright sun and I think that it made a huge difference. I took one with and one without and the colors are way better with the filter. I can't wait to indulge in lots of picture taking on the trip!

Seriously,

Who names a hurricane Nana?

If you aren't a hurricane freak (like myself), then you may not be aware that all hurricanes are actually pre-named before the season starts. They start at the beginning of the alphabet, so this season we could still see some more (hopefully not) after Ike. Kyle comes next, then Laura, then I can't remember the "M" one, and then Nana.

Seriously, who names a hurricane after a Grandma's name? That's just not right.

Off the subject....I'm not going to get any sleep this week because I'm going to be watching Ike.

The Fannie Fan 3000.....get it while it's hot!

She's so proud of this invention! I had to share!

And no, I don't know what it actually does, but she says it's neat.

And yes, she named it the Fannie Fan 3000 all by herself.

And no, we do not watch the Home Shopping Network or QVC at our house.

She was totally a walking infomercial the day she made this though....it was hilarious!
