We are American Idol junkies.
Shocking that Justin is, too. He's usually more of a talk radio kind of guy. (opposites attract, right?..lol....I can't live without music)
This is just our third season to watch. I think we've gotten to the point that we don't really care who wins, it's just good entertainment....ESPECIALLY the finale. It was star studded craziness. We loved both Adam (that boy has some unheard of pipes!) and Kris, ....and Danny, and Allison.
My favorite duet of the night was Kris and my boyfriend.
LOVED it. The quality is not great on this video, but you get the idea.
All the collaborations were fun to watch last night.
Funny story about this Kiss a Girl song of Keith's....we don't listen to alot of radio...mainly kid's cds, but one day this song was on the radio and Keith was singing, "I wanna kiss a girl"...and Courtney kept saying...."THEN KISS HER!" after every time he sang that line. Simple logic from a kid. You want to do it, then do it.
It's that easy, right?

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The day harvest starts.
Although this is just Garrett's 3rd harvest, it has become his favorite time of the year. He lives to ride in the combine. One of his first words was "umbine". Papa has been known to take the combine out of the shop during the winter just so one certain little boy will be happy.

Getting ready to go. Courtney, too! (she only lasts a few minutes....he lasts hours!)

Everybody's in...

Off they go!

Filling the grain cart.

Two combines really make it go fast! Justin got off work and joined in the fun driving Brad's combine.

Not sure if you can tell, but all the lights and blinkers are on on the combine...Papa is letting them play!

Garrett's bedtime is here and he got a surprise when Daddy stepped out of the other combine....this little boy is off to bed, but the big boys turn the lights on and keep on going in the dark. It rained the next day so it will be a while before they get back in the field...that was hard to explain to Garrett!

And the winners are....
Yes, winners plural. :) The kids were fighting over who was going to get to draw, so I decided to do the only logical thing...2 winners!

Garrett drew....

Connie!

Courtney drew....and I PROMISE this wasn't rigged, but...

Courtney drew Courtney!
She thought that was so cool!
SO, Connie and Courtney e-mail me at kat_wiethorn@yahoo.com and I'll get your addresses so I can get your bags in the mail to you this week!
I was going to post a pic so you could see the oh so stylish bags, but Justin forgot to bring them home to me, so I'll try to post one later.
This was fun...we will definitely do more prizes another day. The kids played "drawing for prizes" until bedtime. So, actually everybody's name eventually got drawn tonight....you were all winners!
XOXO, Kathy

Hace Frio to Some
I think that hace frio means cold, but I still haven't taken the plunge to do Rosetta Stone.
Last weekend at the lake was tons of fun when we were out on the water. I don't like the cold, so I only got in one time and that was enough. Not that it was that cold, but it was too cold for me. But not for the rest of my family.
Justin and Courtney enjoyed tubing: (hmmmm....I need to work on my margins...they are over there somewhere...)

Garrett pondered getting in on the action.

That didn't take long.

Oops...maybe it was cold like mommy said it would be.

Here's Garrett's "I'm freezing cold but I'm not going to let a girl outdo me" face.

Not that he hated it or anything.
I couldn't believe how they even swam in the morning when it really was cold. Thank you Tim for being a sport and reeling them in when they needed it. I purposely didn't wear my suit in the morning because I was not getting in that cold stuff.
The kids LOVED the water and we will definitely be out there alot more this summer...they are both finally old enough where it is fun now instead of work!

Do You or Don't You? Edition 1 ....& a giveaway!
Welcome to the inaugural edition of "Do You or Don't You"! I'm not going to call it Do You or Don't You Thursday or any thing like that. It will just be on random days and may or may not be incorporated with a prize drawing.
SO...the question of the day....drumroll...
Do you or don't you use reusable grocery bags?
I personally like them because they hold alot and they don't slosh around in the back of the car like the plastic ones. Some of them are even cute...oh, yes, and it's better for the environment they say.
Here's one of mine:

I just stuff them all in one until it's time to shop:

My favorite one from the island:

Oh yes, and the prize today...leave your comment stating if you do or you don't and you will be entered to win a pair of Texas Land Bank reusable grocery bags...you really don't want to miss out on these fashionable bags!
I know, I know....You probably are thinking to yourself that I have WAY too much time on my hands, but the fact of the matter is that I'm procrastinating because I don't want to mop my floors.
So, go ahead, humor me and all two of you leave your comments so I can send someone some free bags. Contest ends midnight Saturday and I'll post the winner sometime on Sunday!

TA - DAAA!!
Monday was awards day at gymnastics. The kids were SO excited to get their medals. Garrett was especially excited. He has waited so long to finally get to participate after watching his sister go and have fun the last two years. He got to start going last month when he officially turned 2 1/2.
You'll have to excuse the quality of these photos, but they still tell the story...
Here is Garrett running up to get his medal when his name was called. It was so cute!

Here he is receiving his medal:

Up on the "awards" stand doing the "ta-daa" pose:

Courtney doing her "ta-daa" pose...she insisted on wearing last year's suit which is a little too small...but it matched her medal, so I guess all is good...

The best part was that Nana got to come watch because she was off from school on Monday! The kids loved having her there!

I'm not sure what it is about trying to take a picture of the kids together...this is always what they look like. Individually we can get a picture with them, but together is just a crazy picture. But that's what we're all about you know....keepin' it real. ;)

The Ice Cream Man
See this man?

He looks pretty innocent.
But don't let him fool you.
You see, many people refer to him as Poppa, Earl, Mr. Courtney, and I call him Daddy.
But from here on out I think that I'll just call him Ice Cream Man.
The kids call him Poppa or Meme's Poppa. They should just call him Ice Cream Poppa.
He likes to make sure that my children are sufficient in their dairy food group.
We must never leave the dairy out.
It would be tragic in his eyes.
One look at this next picture and I see why he gets such joy out of making sure that we are sound in our dairy intake.

Who can resist a face like that?
But it doesn't end there.
Then Ice Cream Man's partner in crime steps in.
And she teaches my children things like this:

What is going on?
I guess since it was Ice Cream Man's partner in crime's birthday we'll let it slide this time.
I just don't know what I'm going to do with these two.
And I'm not talking about my children.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEME!!!
We had lots of fun with you and Poppa (oh, I mean Ice Cream Man) this weekend!

Mamas
This past weekend was tons of fun. Anne planned a weekend at Lake Belton for all of us to get together and celebrate birthdays and Mother's Day. It was really fun to get everyone together from all of our families. We stayed at a really neat place that had a huge deck overlooking the lake. The kids loved every minute of it and are still recovering from playing and swimming so hard!
Here is everyone in a picture with their moms to commemorate a fun and relaxing Mother's Day. We all have the nice "camping" look going on. ;)
Anne, Mama, & Me

Mandy, JoAn, Davy, & Tim (SHOCK...I got Davy to smile!)

Dee & Justin

Me with my crazies...

I hope to have some lake pictures soon of all the fun we had on the water. The water was COLD, but that didn't seem to bother some of us!

I can't believe that my sister is 82
I Never Drive A Tractor
And now everybody knows that.
We had so much fun at Mother's Tea on Friday at Courtney's preschool. One of the activities that we did was to listen to questions that the kids answered about each of us and guess which mom that description belonged to. The dead giveaway on mine was that I never drive a tractor. This is true. I'm not sure why she chose that, but it was funny. It was really cute to listen to all the things the kids said about all the moms. Here is everything that Courtney said about me:

I also know "stuff". Apparently I also like to play Wii with Justin. I'm pretty sure every time we turn the Wii on she is playing with Justin, but I'll let it slide.

Thank you sweet girl for a fun day!
There is LOTS more to come about our busy weekend! Stay tuned.

Happy Day At Homestead
We met the Herdman Girls Friday at Homestead Heritage right outside of Waco. It was so fun to get together and to take in the beautiful scenery.

The girls had a blast, but let's face it, they have a blast no matter where they are and what they are doing!

Emilee was so cute checking out the ducks....and don't let her size fool you...she is just as quick as the big girls. She is growing up so fast!

This little lamb was so cute...the girls got to pet her, but I didn't get a good picture of that. :(

The Homestead Heritage grounds are so beautiful this time of year. Although I really don't know alot about their entire way of life, I will admit that it seems very peaceful in a world that can be so fast paced. We enjoyed our time there AND my camera did too....it was the perfect overcast day for pictures. Take a peek at some sweet ones that I got of Ella & Emilee.

To Be Young Again

To run wild and free without a care in the world.
I think that one of the greatest joys as a parent is to watch our children play and live without any stresses of the world. Everything really does come full circle. I DO remember back to a time when I was oh so care free. It doesn't seem that long ago.
